Specimen No. 6 Plastiglomerates

Specimen No. 6: Plastiglomerates is a speculative science fiction instrumental theatre performance at HfMT Hamburg.

For multimedia artist Alicia Reyes, I built a 2m x 1.5m rock — a “Plastiglomerate”. A Plastiglomerate is a stone consisting of a mixture of melted plastic and natural materials such as sand, rocks, shells, or wood. As a foundation, I used parts of an old model railway landscape, which I reassembled and designed using moss, old ropes, and trash.

During the performance, an accompanying exhibition of smaller Plastiglomerates made from our homemade bioplastics, shells, and textiles was presented for the audience to explore as witnesses to the permanent impact of human activity on ecosystems.
