Clay, plaster, polymer gypsum, glass fiber — 2023
A first-year apprenticeship task involved modeling and casting one’s own head in a 1:1 scale.
I modeled my head in clay and constructed a “lost mold” from plaster. This mold was then cast using polymer gypsum reinforced with glass fiber. Finally, the negative mold was chipped away to reveal the finished portrait.
